Turkish Cultural Center and Council of Turkic American Associations organized jointly the “Third Annual Turkic Cultural Day” in Maine State House with the vast number of attendees from Senators and Representatives. House Majority Leader Representative Seth Berry, Representatives Dennis Keschl and Karen Kusiak and Senator Roger Katz, who visited Turkey last year, were the valuable hosts of the day. Attorney General Janet Mills also showed interest to the Turkic Cultural Day. Participants pointed out that the annual traditional reception is becoming more outstanding every other following year.
The event continued with the dazzling Ebru art performance by Ebruzen Hümeyra Özcan. The representatives lined up to experience this unique art. Attorney General Mills stated that she saw “Ebru” performance for the first time of her lifetime and implementing it was such rejoice and exciting experience.
Commissione of Public Safety, John Morris also delivered a speech and mentioned about his trip to Turkey last summer and stated how much he was influenced by the hospitality of the Turkish people. He also thanked to Turkish Cultural Center for the support to build a stronger community relations and added that the existence of this cultural center is a value to the the State of Maine.
Guests enjoyed with the delicious Turkish cusine followed by the Turkish delight.
By the end of the day the advisory board members of the Turkish Cultural Center, State Senator Roger Katz and State Representative Karen Kusiak stressed that Cultural Center paid an important role within the last three years to represent Turkey in Maine and worked tirelessly to establish long lasting Turkish-American relations among diverse communities.
